Tradovate on a prop-firm eval

Trading platform · reviewed 2026-07-15 · TradersGuild

Tradovate is a browser-based futures platform with mobile apps, operating under NinjaTrader Group (per its own site). For prop-firm evals it's often the default: the firm issues Tradovate credentials, you log in at trader.tradovate.com, and there's nothing to install. At several firms it's also the bridge for TradingView — the TradingView add-on is enabled from inside Tradovate settings.

Setting it up for an evaluation

  1. 1

Buy your eval and get the Tradovate login from the firm (some firms email credentials; others have you set a password from an activation link).

  2. 2

Log in at trader.tradovate.com in a browser — no install required. iOS/Android apps are available if you want the same account on your phone.

  3. 3

Check the account selector shows your eval account ID — firms often name accounts by plan and size — before you touch an order ticket.

  4. 4

If your firm supports charting/trading from TradingView, that route is typically enabled from inside Tradovate's settings as the TradingView add-on (see the firm notes below).

  5. 5

Learn where the flatten/close-all control is before the session starts, not during it.

What it costs

  • Tradovate's plan structure mirrors NinjaTrader's: Free ($0/month; $0.39 Micro / $1.29 standard / $0.20 Nano per side), $99/month, or a $1,499 Lifetime ($0.09 / $0.59 / $0.05). These are commissions on direct brokerage accounts — a prop-firm eval runs on the firm's pricing instead.

  • Exchange, clearing, and NFA fees still apply on top of commissions (direct brokerage accounts).

Worth knowing before you connect

  • TradingView access at Tradovate-based firms is an add-on enabled inside the Tradovate account — Alpha Futures' docs, for example, describe using "the add on in their Tradovate account to integrate and trade on TradingView".

  • Tradovate operates under NinjaTrader Group, LLC (stated on its own site) — expect the two products' plans and infrastructure to be aligned.

Firms that support Tradovate

Only firms whose own site names Tradovate are listed. A firm missing here means we haven't verified it — not that it's unsupported. See the full compatibility matrix.
