What Time Does BluSky's Trading Day Reset?
Rules verified 2026-07-12 · official source
BluSky's trading day resets at 5:00 PM (17:00) New York time, not your local midnight. That's when the daily-loss window rolls over, your end-of-day drawdown mark is set and a new day starts for the trading-day count.
When the day flips
BluSky runs its trading day on New York time, resetting at 5:00 PM (17:00). Because the boundary is tied to a fixed timezone, it follows that clock through daylight-saving changes — so relative to your own timezone the reset can shift by an hour twice a year. What never changes: it's BluSky's clock that counts, not the one on your wall.
BluSky does enforce a daily-loss rule, but we haven't verified its calculation basis from the firm's own docs yet, so TradersGuild doesn't publish a reset-anchored number for it (see the daily-loss page). The reset still draws the trading-day boundary.
Max loss is EOD-trailing off your highest END-OF-DAY balance — it steps up only at the daily close and never decreases. On the 50K the minimum trailing balance starts at $48,000 ($2,000 below start). HARD breach: the evaluation fails if balance hits the EOD minimum.
What the reset actually moves
A reset time sounds like trivia until it costs you an account. At BluSky, 5:00 PM (17:00) New York is when the firm's daily-loss window rolls over (basis unverified, so TradersGuild doesn't meter it — see the daily-loss page); your end-of-day balance is stamped — the value the trailing max-loss line ratchets up from; the trading-day boundary is drawn for counting purposes (a day = at least one closed trade before the reset).
The end-of-day stamp is the one that surprises traders: on an end-of-day trailing line, closing a day at a new high permanently moves your max-loss line up behind you. Where you are when the clock strikes 5:00 PM (17:00) is the number that sticks.
| Rule | How the reset applies |
|---|---|
| Daily loss limit | Exists, basis unverified — held off the meter |
| Max-loss (drawdown) line | End-of-day balance stamped here; the trailing line can ratchet up |
| Trading-day count | New day for counting (no minimum in the eval) |
How traders actually breach it
The classic reset mistake: not realizing that closing the day green ratchets the end-of-day line up. Give those gains back tomorrow and the line you're now measured against is higher than the one you passed yesterday.
TradersGuild tracks this rule live against your trade log and alerts you while there's still room — "you're $220 from the line" beats finding out from a breach email. Tracking is free for your first account.

FAQ
What time does BluSky's trading day reset?
At 5:00 PM (17:00) in the New York timezone — BluSky's trading-day boundary, not your local midnight.
Does BluSky reset a daily loss limit each day?
No — BluSky has no daily loss limit. The 5:00 PM (17:00) New York reset draws the trading-day boundary and stamps the end-of-day balance the drawdown line trails from.
Does the BluSky trading day reset at my local midnight?
No. It resets at 5:00 PM (17:00) New York time regardless of where you trade from, and it follows that timezone's clock through daylight-saving shifts.
